Finswimming team Komet

Finswimming team Komet was established in 2011 and it is based in Zagreb (Croatia). Its main activity is finswimming, especially competitions and sport training. In 2016 Komet won 1st place in the Croatian national championship for Clubs. Its members Adrijan Omićević and Kristijan Tomić qualified for finals in three disciplines in the World Finswimming Championship 2016 and Tomić won a silver medal: these are the best results ever for Croatian finswimming. Their coach is Rubes Levada, who is also among the founders and is currently the treasurer of the club. Komet currently totals 43 members.

Komet has already participated in different national programmes as a project applicant: 1) “Arcobaleno” 2013: Croatian Electric Company (HEP) granted Komet 5000,00 HRK (approx. 650,00 EUR) for a joint project with Triathlon Club Swibir and Baseball Club Zagreb. The aim was to promote multi-sport approach from younger categories, making members of all clubs train triathlon, baseball and finswimming for a 3-month period. Collaboration with TK Swibir is still active, with members of both clubs taking part in competitions of these two sports; 2) “Zagreb Finswimming Saturday 2013” and “Zagreb Finswimming Saturday 2014”: Office for Sport of City of Zagreb granted each year 10000,00 HRK (approx 1300,00 EUR) to Diving Club Geronimo and Diving Club Komet for a sport event including: a) seminar with world champions in finswimming or coaches of world champions; b) Croatian finswimming championship for clubs; c) 1-week international (Croatian, Serbian, Slovenian finswimmers) training camp with the aim of implement hints from seminar in training system. These activities are part of a wider project called “Geronimo Academy”.

Komet already got funded for an Erasmus+ Small Collaborative Partnership (www.project-aurora.eu), for which project it was the coordinator, together with Triathlon club Velika Gorica (Croatia), Record Team Bologna (Italy) and Sharks Sport Club (Sweden). In 2020 Komet is partner in EHPARP Erasmus+ Collaborative Partnership, where L’Orma ASD from Italy is coordinator and other partners are from Estonia, Greece, Italy and Bulgaria.
This project is to be considered a follow-up and an improvement of previous Project Aurora, who was also focused on Management of sport clubs.

Komet is member of HRS – Croatian Diving Federation which is member of CMAS – World Underwater Activities Federation.
