July 2022 – Asociación Iniciativa Internacional Joven (AIIJ) from Malaga, Spain, together with other 3 European partners, published an e-book whose title is: „“Good Practices and Educational Tools for inclusion through sport”. It was created in the framework of the EU Erasmus+ co-funded project: „Inclusion Through Sport“.
A quote from this e-book: We, professionals in the social sphere who develop sporting activities, have a very important role to play and we must carry out specific actions and projects to build a more egalitarian model. Therefore, it is necessary to work with all the people who live together in our societies to empower them and reinforce the importance of unity in diversity, in order to contribute to the transformation and social inclusion of all people and groups, which is why we decided to create and implement this project: “Inclusion Through Sport”.

LIGA BULTZA

LIGA BULTZA

It is difficult to imagine a competition where there are no results, no classification, or a final being held so that there is a winner. Well, it exists. This is the so-called Bultza League (to push, in Basque) of inclusive rugby in which Valtecsa UBR, Getxo, Hernani and Vithas Gaztedi from Vitoria participate. It is the first inclusive rugby league organized by a federation, in this case the Basque one. It is played over six weekends with matches on the same field in a double round, all against all and with no substitution limit.

the inclusive rugby Bultza League that begins this Saturday at the El Fango sports center in Bilbao

There are beautiful initiatives that are more than necessary to offer opportunities to all people. And the inclusive rugby Bultza League that begins this Saturday at the El Fango sports center in Bilbao is one of them. Universitario Bilbao, Getxo, Gaztedi and Hernani participate in a competition that is already being held under the auspices of the Basque Rugby Federation.

This inclusive rugby project was born six years ago and it will be now, from this year, when it has the recognition of a federated category. After the institutional act of presentation of this League, which will take place in charge of the Basque Federation and representatives of the Bilbao City Council, the first two matches will be held: Universitario Bilbao Rugby-Hernani (1:00 p.m.) and Getxo-Gaztedi (2:30 p.m.) .

All the effort made by many people in previous years, such as the ‘Harresiak apurtuz’ tournament organized by Getxo, will materialize on an inclusive Saturday where these four teams will project a beautiful rugby party. The federated Bultza League is already a reality. The illusion of previous projects takes another step so that players with different disabilities can enjoy oval sports.

SPORTS OBSERVATORY MEETING

SPORTS OBSERVATORY MEETING 12/04/2022

meeting n.2

The Observatory wonders about its territorial role, in particular on the relationship between Third Sector Entities and Public Entities that deal with helping people. The need to formalize a collaborative and planning relationship on inclusion interventions is felt increasingly urgent. We realize that there are always new challenges to respond to in a synergistic and flexible way, our commitment is also to understand and enter into institutional dynamics that guarantee the quality and fairness of public intervention but bring innovation and new planning to give answers to people’s needs in a more punctual and individualized way. Following this process and building it requires time and skills, it is therefore important with SPOT to establish relationships with other territorial and Europe

study visit in the Svetice swimming pool

17th February 2022 – During the Transnational Project Meeting held in Zagreb (Croatia), our project partner Komet organized a study visit in the Svetice swimming pool in order to show us how the local Diving Club Geronimo works and delivers courses to people in wheelchair.
A first successful attempt in South-Eastern Europe was developed in Slovenia (IAHD organization) in the beginning of this century, with the collaboration of Geronimo. The methodology was tested on first participants, and lately improved until it became standardized and eligible to be taught elsewhere.
Scuba diving is a highly technically demanding activity that usually prevents people that are not used to or keen on the program such skillful moves, steps, and preparation. The challenge and the innovation is to involve in this activities those populations that are usually perceived as less skillful or able to take on such activities.

The learning process of attempt-mistake-new attempt created a unique methodology, indeed of high quality and easily replicable.
